My name is Moon Kyoung Kim, a certified CISA professional who has passed the U.S. CPA exam (not yet licensed).

Recently, I achieved my lifelong dream of being admitted to the STEM-designated M.S. in Management of Technology (MOT) program at New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering for this Fall. This opportunity brings me one step closer to my aspiration of becoming a woman leader in technology who drives innovation with a global perspective.

⚛️The Opportunity & The Structural Barrier

I am facing a critical structural barrier. A major U.S. lender evaluated my profile and issued a preliminary eligibility notice for a $70,000 graduate student loan. However, this loan is strictly conditioned upon adding a creditworthy U.S.-based co-signer. As an international student from South Korea, I do not have a personal U.S. co-signer. Without this funding, my upcoming enrollment at NYU Tandon is in immediate jeopardy.

✴️Why This is an Urgent Race Against Time

To legally study in the U.S., I must secure my I-20 document for the student visa process.

✅The Deadline: I should submit acceptable financial documentation no later than the second week of September.

I have less than a few weeks left to safely apply for my student visa.

Although I have maintained good credit history in South Korea, recent government measures aimed at curbing real estate price increases have

tightened lending limits across South Korean financial institutions, affecting not only mortgage lending but also nearly all types of loan products. As a result,

the availability of domestic financing has become extremely limited, which is why I have been exploring financing options outside South Korea.

Under current financial regulations in South Korea, it is strictly impossible to obtain a personal credit loan exceeding one's annual income from commercial banks,

regardless of how high one's credit score is.

In addition, South Korean law does not allow National Pension Service (NPS) funds to be used as collateral for personal loans,

preventing me from using my accumulated pension contributions to finance my education.

My current residence is owned by my parents and is not eligible to be used as collateral for my international student financing.

My father is currently bedridden due to hemiplegia following a stroke, so my family is unable to provide additional financial support.

I have also explored several scholarship foundations, but most had already concluded their scholarship selection processes for this year. In addition,

I have reached out to multiple philanthropic and nonprofit organizations, but I have not yet received any responses. I understand that, as an admitted master's student,

many funding opportunities have specific eligibility requirements, which may limit the funding options available to me.

✴️Exploring Professional & Institutional Pathways

I have systematically explored every official and professional channel to find a viable solution:

✅NYU Consultation: I reached out to the NYU Financial Aid Team and the Office of Global Services (OGS) to inquire about institutional guarantees or emergency financial options. NYU confirmed that university policy prohibits co-signing loans for individual students.

✅Professional Boards: I formally contacted a State Board of Accountancy and ISACA to explore potential institutional pathways, guarantor resources, or alternative financing partners within their professional networks.

✴️My Vision & Commitment

This degree is a pathway to creating meaningful impact through technology, innovation, and responsible leadership. Upon graduation, I plan to return to the industry as an IT Audit, Digital Transformation, or AI Transformation (AX) Consultant, leveraging my CISA certification, accounting background, and technology-focused graduate training.
