My daughter and I are facing sudden housing loss instability and urgently need help securing a safe and stable place to live.

We currently live in a home owned by my father. The original purpose of this arrangement was to provide stability for my child and prevent constant rent increases so I could focus on working and raising her without disruption. Unfortunately, the situation has become unsafe, unpredictable, and emotionally harmful.

After I declined to lend my vehicle late at night due to my responsibility to ensure my daughter was rested and at school the next morning for an important test, he became verbally aggressive. Following that incident, he informed me that he intends to more than double the rent and now demands first month, last month, and security deposit totaling nearly $8,000, due by February 28th. These terms were never discussed and are not financially feasible for me as a single mother, especially with no notice and immediately after Christmas.

My daughter overheard the confrontation, which deeply concerns me. Her emotional well-being, sense of safety, and stability are my highest priorities. This situation has also forced me to confront a painful reality I hoped would be different. I grew up experiencing physical, verbal, emotional, and mental abuse from my father, which is why I have always maintained firm boundaries to protect my child. For that reason, I have never allowed my daughter to stay overnight in his home. Protecting her has always come first.

Being expected to produce nearly $8,000 on short notice is not something I can do. Rather than put that amount of money into a situation where housing can be threatened or used as leverage, I want to put those funds toward securing a home that no one can take away from us. A place where my daughter can feel safe, stable, and at peace.

Rent is extremely expensive, and securing a new place requires first month, last month, and security deposit. In addition to housing costs, I need to cover moving expenses, including a U-Haul rental, movers, packing supplies, and related costs. All of this adds up quickly and was not something I was prepared for without warning.

I am seeking assistance to cover housing deposits, moving costs, and immediate relocation expenses so I can provide my daughter with a calm, secure home where she can thrive. I am a working, responsible, quiet parent whose sole focus is providing a peaceful and stable life for my child. I am actively seeking to relocate out of North Port, whereabouts right now will be private due to protecting my child and I.
