Urgent Support Needed for Our Unexpected Relocation
Donation protected
We’re facing eviction from our home in the mountains and need your help to relocate us and our beloved animals quickly.
I moved to Cle Elum in February of 2024 to care for my good friend and mentor, Ute. She was dying of brain cancer and wanted Chase, my partner, and I to help care for her and her animals. In return, she wanted to leave me her small farm.
We worked hard to take care of her and fulfill her wishes. Along the way, multiple people caused trouble for Ute and us who did not understand the situation and our relationship.
Ute and I did notarize her wishes which involved not only leaving me the property but also put me in charge of rehoming her animals once she passed. We tried to set up a property will but sadly couldn’t afford the $5000/month to hire a lawyer and our notarized documents were not enough. She also gave me her mule, Daisy, along with her help papers.
Unfortunately, after she passed, we learned that the only way we could stay at her house as she wished for us was for me to become the executor. Ute’s sister initially agreed but then appointed another executor, intending to evict us and sell the property.
This has blindsided us. I would still choose to care for Ute again and again without any reward, but that doesn’t mean we were expecting to lose our intended home. It doesn’t mean we expected to pay for the full cremation and 3 months of mortgage payments, only to be thrown out with a single cold notice.
We’re recovering emotionally but what we really need is help affording rent for our next home. We’ve found a few options but don’t have enough for a security deposit and first month’s rent after spending so much of my savings on burial services and a mortgage that will never be ours.
Quickly, ideally by August 1, we would like to have a place secured for us, our dogs, and our horses so we can rebuild safely.
