I seriously am in need of help. My social security check was taken by social services in California. I haven't lived there in 5 years, and they say it's been garnished for past due or overpayment for CalFresh. I'm confused. Thinking fraud? I found out talking to Social Services that I can fight this with an appeal, but that's going to take 30 days.

I have a mortgage, power, heat, etc. to pay. I'm 62 and disabled, so I can't understand why they can take my social security. If there's a way to get at least $1500. I have pets to feed, bills, and rent. Thank you for listening and hopefully some help?
