I hope this plea finds you well, although I must share it with a heavy heart.
My name is Mahmoud Abou-foul, and I am a doctor in the United Kingdom. Today, I reach out to you on behalf of my dear childhood friend, Hamam Ayad. Hamam, at 32 years old, is a paramedic who has dedicated his life to serving others in Gaza amidst the relentless challenges of conflict.
Hamam is among the courageous heroes who refused to abandon healthcare, bravely working under bombardment and risking their lives to save others. Tragically, he has experienced the loss of close family, friends, and colleagues due to deliberate assaults on paramedics and ambulances by Israeli forces. Despite enduring such horrors, Hamam has remained steadfast in his commitment to healthcare, working tirelessly at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City for 100 days before being forced to evacuate with his family to mid-Gaza, and eventually to a tent in Rafah (the most southern city in the Gaza Strip).
Their journey has been marked by profound loss. They lost all their belongings and their family home, where his parents and an entire family of 12 members (including 3 children and 2 toddlers), used to live in Gaza's Zeitoun neighborhood. Their home was completely destroyed by relentless Israeli bombardment. While fleeing for their lives, few of his family members sustained various injuries, some of which are treated with primitive measures due to the massive lack of resources.
Now, this resilient family finds themselves with nothing, facing urgent needs and the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. They require £4000 each to cross the Rafah border to Egypt in the hope of seeking medical attention currently unavailable in the Rafah area, and finding safety and stability. Additionally, they need funds to provide medical care for a few injured family members and parents who suffer from chronic comorbidities.
It is imperative that we extend our compassion and generosity to this family in their time of need. They have endured more than any family should ever bear, yet they cling to hope amidst the rubble of their shattered lives. Your support can be the lifeline they desperately need to rebuild and heal.
The raised funds will help cover expenses for crossing the Rafah border and providing essential medical care for injured family members and Hamam's parents. Every donation, no matter the amount, can significantly impact their journey towards healing and recovery.
Please, let us stand together in solidarity with this courageous paramedic and his children. Let us show them that they are not alone in their struggle, that there are hearts out there ready to offer love, support, and a glimmer of hope in their darkest hour.
Thank you for opening your hearts and lending a helping hand to a family in desperate need.
