I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask strangers for help — but I’m here, and I’m doing it for my dog, who I simply can’t let down.

I’m a disabled woman in my 30s, living with my wonderful dog — but with no family support. I used to work full-time, study part-time, and felt proud of the independence I had built. Life felt hopeful. I had a roof over my head, food on the table, and had just welcomed a beautiful dog into my life — a companion, a source of emotional support, and a bond that’s carried me through so much.

But over the past year, everything has collapsed. I lost my job unexpectedly. My disability has made finding new work incredibly difficult — I’ve gone through multiple interview processes, and while it’s never said outright, it’s clear I’m being quietly pushed aside. It’s exhausting and demoralising to keep trying so hard and still be shut out. I’m continuing to apply to as many jobs as I can, but I’ve had no luck — and I’m now panicking about our future.

I’ve applied for financial support. I’ve spoken to my local council, disability services, helplines, and charities. Every avenue I’ve pursued has led to closed doors or extremely long waiting lists— not because I don’t qualify, but because demand is so high that the systems meant to protect people like me are overwhelmed. I’m slipping through the cracks.

I’ve done everything I can to avoid this moment. I’ve cut every possible expense and I’ve now burnt through any savings I had. I’ve fought to stay afloat. But now I’m in survival mode — I can’t sustain my rent, I’m behind on bills, and I’m panicking about what happens next: where we’ll live, how we’ll eat, how I’ll keep my dog safe and healthy through this.

I’ve been told more than once to give him up — but I can’t. He’s not just a pet — he’s my only family. He’s like my child. My reason to get out of bed. The only consistent comfort I have. I adopted him when I had stable work — I never imagined life would unravel like this.

I’m a motivated, determined person. I’m doing my best — studying, applying for jobs, reaching out for help — but even with all that, it’s not enough. I’m one person trying to hold everything together without a safety net.

What your support and funding will help with:
  • Rent and basic utility bills (to avoid eviction next month)
  • Food for my dog and basic groceries for myself
  • Vet care and essential supplies
  • A chance to survive while I continue job searching and studying to support us

This isn’t a fundraiser for luxury or comfort — it’s about survival. Just staying sheltered and fed. I never thought I’d need to ask for this, but the cost of living keeps rising, and I’m out of options.

If you can give anything — no matter how small — thank you. If not, even sharing this could make a difference.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for helping us hold on ❤️
