I’m reaching out to our community — faculty, students, alumni, and friends of Gender Studies at UCLA — to help support a student who is currently facing serious personal and financial hardship. For privacy reasons, I’m keeping the student’s identity anonymous. I know this person personally, though, and can fully vouch for them. They are a dedicated student, an engaged member of our intellectual community, and someone who has worked incredibly hard to pursue their education at UCLA.

Sadly, a sudden series of circumstances — including the terminal illness of their single parent — has created an immediate financial gap that threatens their ability to maintain basic stability while continuing their studies. This fundraiser is meant to provide short-term mutual aid — a way for our community to come together so that one student does not have to face a difficult moment alone.
