I'm currently raising this GoFundMe to assist my friend, Sora, in moving of his current living situation. The place is covered in dead flies, feces, old food and urine. It is getting increasingly disturbing, aggressive, and (now near physically) abusive. It is dire he relocate as soon as he can.
Things the roommates have done, in a short bulleted list:
- Within a month of moving, had asked him a long term tenant despite his concerns of the housing situation not truly being long term.
Unfortunately, Sora being autistic has also lead to these roommates feeling far too comfortable with their abuse against someone who will not fight them.
- Consistent disregard and outright ignoring his boundaries or willing to compromise on things like personal space or sensory issues. (They refused to buy him a 2 pair of rubber gloves so he could better wash the dishes they demand he washes, which he is more than willing to do and does not complain about.)
However, none of the 3 other able bodied and physically working people in the home do their dishes. They fully expect Sora to clean after their messes knowing that Sora experiences severe seizures that will leave him, fully, a dead weight. It's highly suspected he will need a wheelchair for ambulatory reasons in the future.
- The roommates have not written up a lease agreement and recently tried to change the rent from 860, to 1000, and then even 2000 after realizing due to their impulsive spending and poor priorities that they "forgot" to fully put payment down for their mortgage.
As a note, Sora had lost his bag with his cards in it two weeks before arriving with his partner, he immediately ordered new cards in the mail but unfortunately his roommates refused or made excuses not to prioritize sending the card. It's good to note both Sora and his partner are on SSI, and his partner is in state funded housing.
- Because of the ID cards and necessary cards not being sent for money and transportation services Sora was almost stranded in his partner's home state.
- These roommates think it’s fully fine for Sora's partner to pay all the money to keep them afloat. He only had that money from half a year of saving 100 a month on SSI and some money returned from my college grants. This was a devastating blow to his savings, with 1.8k being spent in that time.
- Have made threats to toss Sora out simply for saying he feels unsafe with their behaviors.
- When Sora was out of town for a month, a specific roommate (arguably the most aggressive roommate in talking about throwing out or selling Sora’s belongings) was unfortunately in charge of watching his 3 cats:
Not only did this roommate starve these cats to the point they lost weight, Sora’s room was torn apart with cat feces and urine everywhere. Adding insult to injury, same roommate let Sora’s cats out without his permission to meet theirs despite one of the cats recently hurting another to the point of needing stitches. This roommate was told the proper way to introduce the cats multiple times and to simply not let them out so quickly, yet still did so. Even gloating about it to Sora’s face upon return.
- Sora is currently being threatened with this roommate's active military partner physically along with tossing and selling all his belongings due to him putting his foot down on this treatment. There was witness to the state his room and animals were in, and the roommate did not appreciate that. He decided to camp out near or outside his room to eavesdrop in on his conversation and use Sora’s reasonable distress to justify this abuse.
More evidence will be added to this GFM periodically, Sora can only get photographic evidence when his roommates are out of the house for fear of his safety.
