Help Shirley Recover After a Major Stroke

My name is Cody Culver, and I am reaching out to friends, family, kind strangers, and our community to ask for help for my Step-mom, Shirley Aguilera Culver.

Two months ago, Shirley suffered a major stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side. She has been in the hospital ever since, requiring round-the-clock care and intensive rehabilitation. Her recovery journey is going to be a long one.

To make matters worse, my dad, Bill Culver, is disabled from multiple back surgeries and struggles with his own mobility issues. He has always been a proud, hardworking man, but he was forced to spend his retirement savings on his own medical needs and now relies solely on disability checks and Social Security. Without Shirley’s income, their situation has become even more difficult.

Every day feels like an uphill battle, and my dad is overwhelmed trying to keep up with his own health while also worrying about how to provide the care Shirley needs.

Despite all this, Shirley continues to fight with courage and hope. Her goal is simple yet powerful:

“I'm going to walk out of this hospital and go home.”
