Urgent Support for River and Mama

My fiancé River and their mom Paula are in dire need of help. On the 3rd of October, we had plans to move them up here to live with me in Indianapolis so we could provide better care for them.

Mama is a cancer survivor who is oxygen-dependent, bedbound, and can't move below the waist. She has COPD, diabetes, chronic wounds, and needs constant changing due to her colostomy bag and inability to control her bladder. My fiancé is a cancer survivor who has heart failure and diabetes.

Two hours into our twelve-hour journey, she was in so much pain that we had to stop and call an ambulance on the side of the freeway in the middle of the night. Just three hours after she was admitted to the ER, she was discharged, and the case management director said that we had one day to figure out what to do. We ended up renting a motel for $355 for the week, and I had to return home alone shortly after to continue working. Two days into her stay in the motel, the wounds on her legs started weeping, so they went back to the ER.

The doctors in the ER and the case management director fought to keep her there for as long as possible while they find a long-term care facility that can take her in, but because she was never able to get on Medicaid, she wasn't able to find somewhere in time. They're giving us until tomorrow, October 11th, to find a new place for her to stay in the meantime.

They have nowhere to go. They're in a strange town with no friends or family nearby.

Our only options are to either raise $7,200 so we can afford another week in a motel and non-emergency medical transportation to get her up here to Indianapolis or raise $2,000 so we can get Mama into a long-term care facility on our own dime and get my fiancé up here to me.

I wish we had any other options, but we've exhausted all of them. Our only hope is in the kindness of friends, family, and strangers to get Mama and my fiancé somewhere safe.
