My family is in the middle of a heartbreaking and urgent situation, and we are asking for support.

My mom was recently sent home from a nursing facility after her Medicare coverage decided they would cap the care she needs at the nursing facility despite her medical team saying she needed more care and time. She is currently unable to walk, stand, or care for herself in any way. She needs full-time assistance, including help with basic daily needs like changing her diaper and moving in any way. Meals prepared. She requires constant care.

At the same time, my Father, who has been her primary caregiver, is now in the hospital and not recovering well. It is likely he will need to move into a skilled nursing facility himself and will also require ongoing care.

This has left our family in an incredibly vulnerable position. Both of my parents need full-time support, and we are doing everything we can to make sure they are safe, cared for, and treated with dignity.

We are raising $15,000 to:

• Hire an elder care attorney to help us secure Medi-Cal and essential medical services

• Cover immediate caregiving support while we navigate the system

• Ensure both of my parents receive the care they urgently need

We never imagined we would be in a position like this, fighting just to access basic care for our parents. The system is complicated and time-sensitive, and without legal help, it is incredibly difficult to navigate.
