We are urgently raising funds for Manuel Hernández, a Long Island day laborer who was arrested on November 14th. Manuel normally works in the Freeport area, and while we were able to locate his name in the federal detainee locator, his case raises serious and alarming concerns:
The ICE detainee locator indicates that Manuel is being held by CBP (Customs and Border Protection) but does not list any detention facility, and his family does not know where he is being held and has had no contact with him whatsoever since his arrest. We have reached out to his congressional representative and other elected officials to demand information and help locate him.
Manuel lives with a serious mental health condition and requires daily medication. His family is terrified that he may not be receiving his medication or treatment in custody. Every day without proper care puts Manuel’s health and well-being at serious risk.
We have recently been able to find pro bono representation, but the urgent steps that his family needs to take to protect Manuel will require immediate financial support.
Please donate if you can. Your contribution will help Manuel’s family fight for answers, and ensure he receives the medical care and dignity he deserves.
Thank you for standing with Manuel during this critical moment.
