i am a first generation latinx, born and raised in south central Los Angeles.

I come from a family of immigrants.

There is only so much information i can share here for the fear of safety of this relatives current situation, apologies in advance if its too vaugue.

I am currently in a situation where it is in immediate need to help a realtive escape Los Angeles. They are in extreme danger of their living/working enviornment due to the political climate and current racism sweeping the united states.

Many of you know I left Los Angeles for survival, for hopes of living next to safe people, and big opportunities to save money/pay debt from simply trying to live.

A lot of it didnt pan out as it should have and my support network here dissapeared 2-3months after moving here.

However i continued on and have been living in a somewhat affordable situation while chipping away at the initial 5k moving cost in the last year and a half. With that said I am in no position financially to be able to afford this sort of emergency relocation without help.

As a first gen latinx it was extremly difficult for me to know i'd be 2,000+ miles away from someone I've protected for years. I constantly fight myself not knowing whatd I'd do if my relatives were put into dangerous situations that may take them away from here forever.

With the new administration this realtive is a target, things have progressed exponentially that this relative is in desperate need to relocate and come live with me as soon as possible. Every single day of their life right now is navigating not getting "picked up"

This relative has known nothing but the united states and Los Angeles since 12 years old. its been 45+ years here. She has been to countless diy shoes ive hosted and organized to feed the kids while we played music! She has never turned away a hungry human even when we had close to nothing ourselves. Everyone around me close or stranger she welcomes lovingly with open arms from my teens to now.

Now at extreme risk, in the last few months we've worked together to make sure this relative has been able to navigate their day to day working life as safely as possible. Hiding when needed, avoiding certain streets, highways, and staying indoors when absolutely necesarry even leaving the city for days at a time to a safer area. Ive worked with trusted allies in LA to help check in, connect me with alert groups & information distribution. This only does so much as in this capitalistic world the money flow has to continue for the sake of survival, food& shelter on this relatives end.

This relative has been faced with displacement twice this year. Once due to the rising rent prices in the area because of the gentrification of the hood, and the second time due to the constant police sweeps of the gated yard the camper was "renting".

Currently now, they are living in an ungated yard with the camper rv that is not mobile in the heart of the city where sweeps are at their highest. They are a prime target. Everyday I worry if i will get that return text message, if i will get that check in phone call, or if things will go silent. There is no family for this relative to lean on in the city, they only have me.

Im in a position now that we cannot continue to gamble. So I am asking for help from allies, my community, and strangers. I need this relative here, in the safety of our city. We have resources, there are no sweeps where i reside, there is work here and we are looking into uprooting with this relative to a sanctuary city [redacted]. About XXX miles west of me or more inland to the farmland.

(I have friends and support networks there)

These are the basic necessities I will need help funding. Our current time line is 3-4weeks however this can change drastically to a days notice depending on the day to day situation. Our current goal is June 16th

-one way flight to los angeles $280-$300 with zero carry ons.

-rental vehicle quoted $120 a day approximate 6-7 day travel (1 day to land load and 6 days to travel) *this is the only way we can travel back for obvious reasons*

-Gas approximate 2,700 miles $450-$500 dependant on the rental milage

safe sleeping accommodations: 4 days $425

usually id opt to sleep in the vehicle, however with the circumstances as they are avoiding any sort of "L enforc3ment" it is extremly important for the safety of this task

- time off work for myself 5 days (+my scheduled 2 days off)

approximately $500 loss of income

with the potential to lose my employment if time off does not get approved (i have to do this regardless of approved time off there is no choice)

I will be going alone, my partner will be staying behind to help cutt costs and loss of income from work.

-only necessary moving supplies $100-$200

most if not all items will be left behind

-new rent &moving costs for us (a bigger home with an extra room)

$2,000 *currently have partial of this saved already from our current deposit*

-Replacement of basic living necessities: $300-$500 (bed, furniture, bike, ect)
