On Wednesday, February 25, my friend Jessica was taken by agents from ICE while she was outside in her pajamas waiting for her daughters’ school bus. I was present and tried to prevent the agents from taking both of her daughters as well. What began as an ordinary school morning quickly turned into a traumatic and life-altering moment for this family.
Jessica came to this country legally, seeking asylum. She was fleeing domestic violence and trying to protect her daughters from their father, who is currently incarcerated in Tijuana. She was simply trying to build a safer, more stable life for her children.
Due to circumstances beyond her control, Jessica missed her immigration appointments. Her former partner stopped taking her, and because she had only been in the United States for a year and eight months, did not know how to drive, and had no reliable transportation, she had no way to get there on her own. She was navigating a new country, new systems, and language barriers while caring for her daughters alone.
Yesterday, she was detained and deported without what we believe was proper due process. She was taken with nothing — no clothes, no money, no belongings. She is now in danger and completely without resources.
We are asking for urgent financial support to help provide Jessica with basic necessities, legal assistance, and emergency support as she tries to regain stability and safety. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference for this mother who has only ever wanted to protect and provide for her children.

Navegaba por un nuevo país, nuevos sistemas y barreras lingüísticas mientras cuidaba sola de sus hijas.
Ayer, fue detenida y deportada sin lo que creemos que fue el debido proceso. Se la llevaron sin nada, sin ropa, sin dinero, sin pertenencias. Ahora está en peligro y completamente sin recursos.
Estamos solicitando apoyo financiero urgente para ayudar a proporcionar a Jessica necesidades básicas, asistencia legal y apoyo de emergencia mientras intenta recuperar la estabilidad y la seguridad.
