Jake was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer after emergency surgery at the end of last year.

While we were in Prague, he suffered a bowel obstruction that caused his bowel to perforate and sent him into septic shock. He had to undergo an emergency subtotal colectomy to save his life.

After that we were medically evacuated back to the UK, where he stayed in hospital for monitoring and treatment. The pathology report from Prague confirmed the obstruction was caused by a malignant tumour. At that time there were no distant metastases.

Since returning to the UK, things have gone badly wrong. Because of hospital errors and ongoing administrative issues, Jake has been readmitted twice and his chemotherapy has been delayed three separate times.

We are now 13 weeks after surgery, far beyond the recommended 6–8 week window to begin treatment. Recently he has also started showing signs of metastasis and is in severe pain in multiple areas.

Our only remaining option may be private treatment, but the cost is extremely high.
