UPDATE:
This GoFundMe is now focused entirely on Grimaldo’s legal defense.
Grimaldo has begun retaining an attorney. We need to raise at least $7,000 to cover full legal representation, with $2,500 needed immediately to secure and continue his case. These funds are time sensitive and directly affect what his lawyer can do next.
David signed a deportation order before we were able to secure legal representation and has since been returned to Ecuador, where he is now with his family. Funds related to his case will be used to ship his belongings to him.
Going forward, all donations will support Grimaldo’s legal fees. If you have already donated, thank you. If you are seeing this now, any contribution helps, and sharing this fundraiser truly makes a difference.
Thank you for showing up when it matters!

Hi everyone, my name is Esperanza, but many of you know me as Adri. I am doing everything I can to support my immigrant community.
I created this GoFundMe to help two community members who were kidnapped by ICE without a warrant.
Grimaldo is 57 years old. He came to the U.S. seeking asylum and was taken from his workplace. He was told someone crashed into his car, and when he went outside, ICE grabbed him. He has been in detention for almost three weeks with no one advocating for him until I found out. He has no family here and is completely alone. He is my parents’ age, and it breaks my heart to know he is suffering alone. He has chronic health conditions and needs urgent help to get out of ICE. Lawyer fees range from $2,000 to $10,000, and I need to cover upfront consultation fees and retainers. All funds will go directly to legal representation.
David is 21 years old. He was walking to get lunch when at least five ICE vehicles surrounded him and took him to the detention center. He has no family here in the U.S., and I haven’t been able to reach him because ICE makes it nearly impossible to contact detainees. I do have pertinent information about his case and am in contact with his family outside the U.S., so we can provide lawyers with everything they need.
I have been supporting our immigrant community’s access to food since ICE increased operations in Minnesota. I am committed to ensuring donations go directly to Grimaldo and David and will provide updates via social media.
Please donate and share this. No amount is too small. Your support can save lives and reunite families. Time is critical.
(Out of respect and safety, I will not be sharing photos of Grimaldo or David)
