I met Deborah some years ago in a writing workshop, and we bonded over having some of the same chronic illnesses. Through the years, Deborah has been a true friend, and I’ve witnessed their kind, thoughtful parenting of their two children they have shared custody of.

Deborah is now in a desperate situation, in urgent need of immediate housing. Their living situation, with an ex-partner, is volatile and ending. Their disabilities prevent them from being able to work or fully care for themself, and make it much more dangerous for them to be unhoused.

Deborah risks losing shared custody of their children, without shelter to carry out their parenting obligations. They will also not be able to receive caregivers without a residence.
