A close friend is currently facing significant legal expenses connected to an ongoing and highly sensitive family court matter. Because proceedings are still ongoing, identifying details cannot be shared publicly.

Over the past year, the situation has placed considerable emotional and financial strain on both mother and child. The legal process has involved repeated hearings, ongoing custody disputes, and mounting legal costs that have become difficult to sustain.

My friend works full time in a caring profession and has done everything possible to remain financially stable, including taking on debt, reducing living costs where possible, and continuing to work throughout. Unfortunately, the legal system moves slowly, and expenses continue regardless of outcome or timing.

Child support proceedings are currently underway, but have not yet been consistently implemented, meaning there is still a gap between income and essential household costs. This has contributed to increasing financial pressure. In addition, certain financial commitments, including vehicle repayments, remain fixed due to arrangements that cannot easily be changed until broader legal matters are resolved.

The purpose of this fundraiser is simply to help ensure continued legal representation, provide a degree of financial stability while the matter proceeds, and remind my friend that she has people standing beside her through all of this.

Annual income (gross): approximately $56,000

Estimated take-home pay: approximately $4,000 per month

Monthly costs (approximate):

Rent: $1,350

Car payment and insurance: $700

Health insurance: $630

Existing legal debt repayments: $700

Utilities: $270

Other debt repayments: $250

This equates to $3900 per month and does not include food, clothing, school costs, fuel, ad hoc expenses, or future legal expenses connected to the ongoing proceedings.

The financial pressure has now become urgent.

How funds will be managed:

I am organising this campaign from the United Kingdom on behalf of the beneficiary in the United States. I will transfer funds as needed to the beneficiary or their legal representative where appropriate, to be used solely for the stated purpose. This arrangement is simply to facilitate international support.

Any funds raised more than what is needed will be donated to an appropriate charitable organisation.
