Meet Francis!
Francis was saved from rural WV with her 3 littermates, all dumped on the side of the road. A rescue partner pulled them, gave them love and removed hundreds (yes, HUNDREDS) of ticks off the 4 puppies.
We transported the puppies to our very small rescue operation, and the other 3 have since been adopted.
Upon arrival Francis had a slight limp and noticeable gait shift. At her spay appointment the vet checked her rear left hip and decided soft tissue injury and just needed rest.
After a week of rest, there was no improvement. In fact, Francis started rapidly declining. We then got her xrays to rule out bone issues - after several xray views, the 2nd vets opinion also ruled soft tissue injury and started pain meds and recommended more intense rest.
Two days later, Francis’ back left leg became almost non functional and started dragging her toes - we now suspect neurological issues. Maybe something autoimmune, maybe tick related, or something else.
We have maxed out what we can do on our own but we absolutely need to continue getting care and answers for sweet Francis.
We are asking for help in raising money to see specialists. Francis is ONLY 10 weeks old.
We dont know if this is terminal, but if its NOT, she deserves a chance at a full life!!
We have already paid $409.60 for xrays and pain management.
We are working to have her seen by Dr. Couto, top of his class Veterinarian. After his consult which is another $200, we can update with what his recommended next steps are and costs, but we are looking at a few thousand dollars for a diagnosis and then possibly more for rehabilitation and physical therapy to regain lost strength and muscle.
We are also working on getting her into a rescue with a larger network - but they will still need financial support. EVERY penny donated will follow Francis and be used for her care.
If there is anything extra leftover, it will be donated towards other rescue medical cases.
Can you please help?
Please follow her facebook page for updates on her!
