Urgent. Shelter eviction imminent.

Donation protected
Simabo's shelter in Cape Verde houses 120 dogs who have been rescued and cannot be returned. Due to the site being sold in early May 2022 we must urgently reduce the number of dogs. The dogs are all dog and people friendly - they are handled daily by volunteers and live in small groups and are suitable for a home environment. Whilst some rehoming is done locally, dogs that are not puppies are less desirable and can spend many years, if not their whole life, without a home. For these dogs, we need to prepare them for transfer to Europe.

It costs approximately 200 euro's to prepare a dog for travel, to carry out the required vaccinations and prepare the paperwork. We are contacting individuals and rescues to take these dogs but the more dogs we can prepare, the more chance we have of saving these dogs.

Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Here are some examples of the dogs that we are looking to prepare.

LOLA FEMALE - 2 YEARS OLD
Hi! I’m Lola, I was rescued from the street on another island however I needed vet care and there was no vet on that island. I was brought to Sao Vicente and am very healthy now however I am looking for a loving home. I am really sweet but I like my walks and I share my kennel with lots of doggy friends.

BRUSER - MALE - 10 YEARS OLD
Hi! I’m Bruser, I was rescued a long time ago by a lady that promised to take me home with her. But she never did. So I have been ready to travel to Europe since 2012, and in the meantime I got old. But I share my kennel with younger and energetic dogs and we still get along fine also when we are walked together. I’m very affectionate, quiet and easy-going. I love to go out for a walk, be brushed and cuddled. I’m the perfect and quiet companion.

TONY - MALE - 2 YEARS OLD
Hi, I am Tony! I was rescued together with my sister Marie and my mother, who unfortunately didn’t recover from her injuries. In the beginning, I was shy and scared of everything. My mum was my pillar and when she died my sister and I felt a bit lost. With time, we got introduced to other puppies and I liked them almost immediately. They are nice to me, we play and sleep together under the trees on a sunny afternoon. I feel less frightened of the world. It actually seems like a nice place out there and I would love to see more than what I see on my walks around the shelter. I am still learning many things and I am still not confident about everything, but I would love to meet someone who would continue helping me on this path in a forever home.
