Urgent: Secure Safe Home for Mom and Kids

HEY EVERYBODY!! WE NEED SOME $$$ AND HOMEGOODS!!

My dear friend—a black & indigenous mother of two young children—has been approved for safe housing and is able to move in on the 15th of next month. She’s made the incredibly courageous decision to leave an abusive marriage and start over, but she needs help to make that move possible. She has requested to stay anonymous in order to protect her safety, her children’s safety, and mine.

She’s been staying with family while trying to keep her kids safe, but her abuser has already found her twice. It’s no longer safe for them to keep moving around. Law enforcement is not a safe option in this situation due to personal reasons. Our priority is her safety and staying under the radar as she takes this next step.

She has a job lined up and starts next week, but right now she needs support to cover the first month’s rent, a security deposit, groceries, gas, and basic essentials to get through this transition. She was supposed to receive financial assistance from an organization, but when it came down to it, they had over-promised and didn’t follow through, and she lost the first space she was approved for. I want to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

We are raising $5,000 to give her and her children a real chance at stability and healing.
