Hi guys, my name is Jazmine. The only thing I seem to have a true passion for is animals and helping them. I’ve been a cat mom for over five years now and have also helped a lot of babies that weren’t mine.
In April, we were alerted to a litter of kittens behind an abandoned home in our neighborhood. To this day, we are not sure if the mother passed or the kittens were placed out there due to not being able to be cared for. By the time we got to them, they had already been out there over 24 hours with no mother coming. We decided to take them in, and that’s been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
In May, we had to respond to an emergency medical situation with the litter that took the last little chunk of money we had saved up. Ongoing veterinary care is required for them still. They are at least stable and in good condition.
Now, we’ve had another hurdle thrown our way. Our sweet Tater-Tot and Elodie, which we’ve raised since birth, are now suffering from URIs and eye infections. We have the medication required to treat their eyes; however, we are clean out of Clavamox, which is vital for treating respiratory infections. In order to get them the medical care needed, we need to get them to the vet.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to secure the funds to pay for the babies' office visit, which in itself is a bit expensive for litters, the treatment that they will need administered to them, and to be able to pay for the medications prescribed for them.
I am legally blind/severely visually impaired. I have been seeking employment, which has led me nowhere. I am currently waiting on reinstatement of disability to be able to have funds coming in again. The decision process alone can take 6 months. We have applied for CareCredit and scratch vouchers, both of which we were denied. We are desperate to be able to get them the veterinary care that is needed so they can live happy and healthy lives. We already lost one baby back in May. We don’t want to have to go through this ever again!
Any donations at all would be so, so appreciated as every bit of it is going towards the office fee, medical treatment, and medications needed. If you’re not able to donate, we totally understand and just ask that you please at least share Tater-Tot and Elodie’s story, and maybe together we can get them the help they need.
Breakdown of costs. (We have used this veterinary before and recently. So all costs are still current)
Appointment deposit-$85
Office fee for litter- $100
Treatments administered by vet- $100-150
Needed medications (multiple rounds) $200-250.
The goal is to have the funds secured for their veterinary care by the last week of August. It’s extremely important that they receive medical care as soon as possible and we can only make that happen through donations. When I rescued these babies, I didn’t plan on facing some of the hurdles that I have otherwise I wouldn’t be in this position to even have to ask for help. I’ve always managed and maintained everything. I’ve done for them on my own. I’m just now at a point where I desperately need some help to get them the medical care they need.
I tried contacting their vets office this week to get an estimate sent for proof of the costs. However, I was not able to get that information. Once I was on the phone with them their only concern wasn’t answering my questions for me to get the estimate. Their main concern seemed to be focused on letting me know that since we had missed an appointment that they would be requiring a $100 appointment deposit.
needless to say after calling to just try and obtain an estimate and they’re only concern being to let me know that I had done so wrong by missing an appointment and that I would definitely be paying for that really soured and I believe deteriorated the relationship between the staff and I. I will not be naming the veterinary clinic as I do not want to bring any hardship on them it was their reception staffs doing not the clinic itself. I will be contacting a different vet on Monday and will be having an estimate sent one way or another.
frankly, I was pretty disheartened and mortified after the phone conversation with their vet clinic had ended. They were definitely a bit pricey and absolutely refused payment plans knowing how bad our situation was. So maybe it is for the best that we find them another vet.
