I’m Alyssa, founder and Director of Aviary Creature Rescue, a 100% nonprofit volunteer based animal rescue in St. Mary Parish, LA. This is a very loaded post, so please bear with me and read to the end.

The most urgent matter is the little baby Lab puppy that we took in last week came down with Parvo yesterday. If you’re not familiar with that disease, it comes from puppies being unvaccinated, and it is one of the worst things that they can catch. Famg came to us after a woman threw him out, yelled out the door to her neighbor that she didn’t want him anymore and then drove away.

He’s in the hospital fighting for his life right now.

I refuse to ever let money get in the way of saving a life no matter how dire things are, but right now they are pretty freaking disgustingly dire for the rescue.

Donations have slowed, despite my constant fundraising efforts, and on top of that a northern rescue that took one of our babies months ago who was an amputation case, completely ghosted us on the $5000 bill.

Fang’s initial estimate is $3500.

On top of our regular day-to-day expenses and other boarding fees, we are in the hole right about 10 grand.

It’s an honor to serve the creatures of this parish, and I wouldn’t change a thing because they need us, but we need the community to step up in a big way if we are going to have any chance of continuing to help.

Intake is completely closed until we can climb out of this hole.

I’m starting a GoFundMe for $10,000 to not only save Fang’s life but all of the creatures we currently have and all of the ones to come.

Please, even if you can donate one or two dollars, we have about 5000 followers across our rescue pages and together, I know we can do this.

And please share the crap out of this and include any story or testimony you can as to why this is so important.

Most of you know, I also run an art studio, that is my only job and I donate so much time, art, money and energy to this rescue, I just can’t burden it the way I have been for the last few years.
