We urgently need your help.
We have a rare, lifesaving opportunity to fly 160 animals out of Dominica and to safety on June 14th, 2026. The last Freedom Flight took place in 2023, and since then, many of these dogs have been waiting, some for as long as THREE years, for a second chance.
Many have survived horrific abuse and neglect, including poisoning, burns, injuries from being hit by cars, and severe trauma. Others were abandoned as puppies and have spent most of their lives in cages, never knowing safety, comfort, or love.
Today, our rescue is beyond capacity. Overcrowding is causing stress, fights, and disease, and with hurricane season approaching, the danger is growing. As the only animal shelter on the island, and with very limited local adoption opportunities, this flight is their best chance at survival.
A generous donor, Eva’s Dog Camp has pledged to match every donation up to $40,000, doubling your impact.
This mission is possible thanks to Wings of Rescue, who will transport the dogs safely to the United States, and trusted rescue partners across the New York area who are ready to receive them and continue their journey toward adoption.
Every donation brings us closer to safety, care, and a future for these dogs.
Please help us give them the life they’ve been waiting for.
What is the Freedom Flight?
Dominica has extremely limited adoption capacity, and releasing rescued animals back onto the streets is not an option. Abuse, neglect, and poisoning are tragically common, and our shelter is overcrowded and vulnerable during hurricane season.
The Freedom Flight is a charter-style rescue transport created to give these animals a real future through placement with U.S. rescue partners.
Nola's Transformation: From starved & abused to healthy & waiting for a freedom flight off the island.

Who we are
St. Nicholas Animal Rescue (SNAR) was founded in 2017 in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Today, we are the only animal shelter in Dominica, caring for 392 dogs and 90 cats while providing veterinary care, rehabilitation, and spay/neuter programs in partnership with St. Nicholas University of Veterinary Medicine.
Our official U.S.-based 501(c)(3) fundraising partner is Friends of SNAR USA.
Without SNAR, hundreds of animals would have nowhere safe to go.
