Urgent: Save Amy's Van and Keep Her Family Together

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Amy, and I am starting this GoFundMe as a last resort to save my van from the repo man.

Two years ago, I was living in Florida with my daughter who is in the Air Force. She is a single mom, and I will do anything I can to help her succeed in her new career. I was holding down two part-time jobs at 65 years old. I am not afraid of hard work!

She got orders to move, and so I left my jobs to go with her to South Carolina. I hold durable power of attorney for her and my granddaughter and take care of the household while my daughter has to leave on deployments and T.D.Y. assignments.

Since moving here 2 years ago, I have not been able to secure steady employment and have fallen behind on my vehicle payments. I started with a loan of just over $19K for a used van and now have a balance of only $7,505. I have missed a few payments because my savings have been used up due to not finding work.

I am employed with an agency that provides in-home health care, but it is not stable. It has been 6 weeks since I had an assignment. Oftentimes, my patients end up leaving home to go to the hospital or rehab, or expire. I am also registered with a temp agency that is trying to find me a placement. But let's be real. No one wants to hire a 67-year-old.

I notified my lien holder of my need for a copy of the van title to be sent to the South Carolina DMV so I can get it registered in this state. Instead of sending me or the DMV a copy of the title, I received a notice to pay the late balance on the account or they will repo the van. My daughter has provided the funds for the fees, registration, and taxes for this state, but neither of us can make the late payment. My daughter does not receive any financial assistance from anywhere, just her military pay. My Social Security monthly deposits are less than $800. With me not working steady work, it is very hard.

I continue to look for work I can do at 67 years old. But the entry-level job market in my area is saturated. I had no idea this would be so hard because I had TWO jobs that were easy to get in Florida.

I am limited to the times I can work because I keep my granddaughter after school to avoid paying a babysitter. This summer, we will HAVE to pay a babysitter for me to work while school is out.

IT IS CRUNCH TIME NOW! That is why I am reaching out for help. I have until April 24th to get the late fee paid or lose the van.

I can't refinance without a firm steady job. My daughter is unable to cosign. The current payments come out of my SS each month. I will continue that plan for the remainder of the loan. I just got behind when we moved and have not been able to get steady work.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading my sob story, and if you can find it in your heart to help me over this hump, my ability to support my country by helping to support my family will continue until life circumstances dictate otherwise. And yes, I am an Army Veteran too.

I only have 16 more payments to make, and I will be done! Thank you again. "Thank You" will never be enough to express the gratitude in my heart for those of you who will help!
