Give them the safe homes they’ve been waiting for.
Hello, my name is Sabine, and I run a small, private boarding stable between Prescott and Brockville. Two years ago, a man brought four horses and one llama to be boarded at my farm. Sadly, two of the horses passed away last year from EEE. Since then, the owner has not visited the remaining animals — a quarter horse mare named Holly, a pony named Blue, and a llama named Dahli.
As the barn owner, I make sure they have hay, water, and shelter, but their health care, hoof care, and medical needs have been ignored for far too long. I am raising funds to rescue these three animals, address their urgent needs, and place them in loving, permanent homes.
For a number of years, these sweet animals have been waiting for care that never came. Despite being neglected, they each have such gentle spirits:
• Holly is a kind quarter horse mare in her mid-20s. She loves scratches and carrots. Of the three, she is in the best physical condition despite not having had proper hoof care in years. She is mostly unhandled and therefore unrideable.
• Blue, a super sweet pony in his mid-30s, survives mainly on soaked feed because he can no longer chew hay. He suffers from sweet itch and hasn’t had his feet trimmed in years.
• Dahli, a lovable llama, is in need of serious attention — his teeth and feet need trimming, his coat needs shearing, and he has an abscess that requires veterinary care.
Their owner has not come to see them since August 2024, pays board only intermittently and never the full amount. With no response to calls or emails, I have no choice but to invoke the Innkeepers Act, which allows me to place the animals up for auction. I intend to hold the auction at my farm at the end of September.
I don’t want Holly, Blue, or Dahli to end up in the wrong hands. They deserve safety, love, and dignity in their remaining years.
The funds raised here will allow me to:
• Initiate the Innkeepers Act and buy back Holly, Blue, and Dahli at the auction so their ownership can be legally transferred into my name. This will allow me to safely re-home them.
• Provide urgent veterinary care (dental, hoof trimming, vaccinations, treatment for Blue’s sweet itch, Dahli’s abscess, and more).
• Arrange transport and transition to safe homes.
- A kind woman has already agreed to give Holly and Blue a forever home. The horses care will remain under my supervision and I will provide a back-up home for them should she be unable to keep them down the road. This will also ensure that they do not end up on a meat truck somewhere.
- Serendipity Farm & Sanctuary has kindly agreed to take in Dahli. There he will be able to live out his days in safety and happiness.
• Any leftover funds will go directly to the sanctuary to help cover Dahli’s daily needs.
These animals have waited long enough. With your help, we can make sure they don’t fall through the cracks — but instead finally receive the love and care they deserve.
Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help Holly, Blue, and Dahli find their safe, happy futures.
