Urgent Rescue: Help Bring Iggy & Wasabi Home!

Wasabi & Iggy Need to Get Home—Please Help!
I never imagined I’d be in this position, but due to significant changes in my personal life that I would rather not discuss here, I urgently need to return to Costa Rica to bring my dogs back with me. This is not for a vacation or personal gain—this is solely to rescue them from a situation that is not safe for them. I had believed they were being well cared for, but I now know that’s not the case, and I can’t leave them there any longer.

I have had Iggy for 12 years, since I rescued him as a baby in Mexico. He has traveled with me to the U.S. and Costa Rica, always by my side. Wasabi was rescued from an extremely abusive situation in Costa Rica, where she was being beaten and not fed. Despite everything she has been through, she is the most loving and resilient girl. She and Iggy are extremely bonded and cannot be separated—they have been each other's comfort and support through all of life’s challenges.

I need to ensure their trip back is as smooth as possible for their health and safety. That means booking flights with as few stops as possible, completing all required export/import paperwork, getting them microchipped and vaccinated, and purchasing travel crates.

The costs involved are significant, and while I have listed some of the biggest expenses below, there are many additional costs as well:

$400 for export and import paperwork

$100 for microchipping

Close to $1,000 for their travel crates and their space on both flights home

Multiple flights to and from Costa Rica on short notice, which are more expensive

Vet visits and vaccinations required before they can leave

Ground transportation to get to the airport with the dogs and their crates

Unexpected costs that always arise when transporting animals internationally

Adding to the urgency, the last available flights for animals out of Costa Rica are on April 30th, meaning I have very little time to act.

I completely understand that people have varied feelings about crowdfunding, and I wouldn’t be taking this route if I had any other options. Asking for help is incredibly uncomfortable for me, but I cannot let Iggy and Wasabi remain in an unsafe situation. I know times are tough for everyone, and I truly don’t want to add to anyone’s burden. If you are able to contribute, any amount at all will help me bring them home safely. And if you can’t donate, even just sharing this would mean the world to me.

Thank you for reading, and for anything you can do to help. ❤️
