Family Court Ordered Children to Abuser, Mom Jailed for trying to Protect
"I have not seen or had any communication my two boys since November 1, 2018. I was their primary caregiver, the parent that took care of all their needs, nurturing and loving them. But in the end I could not protect them. Their father was arrested on December 17, 2017 for abuse. I believed that family court would protect my children and I, but nothing could be further from the truth. Family Court ignored the abuse and granted sole legal and physical custody to their abusive father. It is all about money. I have spent every penny I had to fight in court and protect my children. I ran out of money and the abuser won because he has more money. Countless protective parents are experiencing this same legal horror. Children are growing up in nightmares and kept from their loving protective parent. Please help me to help my children." -Joann

There are so many protective parents who lose their children to the abuser in the family courts. I’m hoping you can help me fundraise for one of the women in my short documentary, Joann. She’s in very desperate shape. The court awarded all custody to her abuser, jailed her for refusing to send kids, and now she hasn’t seen nor spoken to her kids in nearly two years. Not even a phone call.
She had a horrific sadistic evaluator on her case who recommended to court taking kids away from her and sending kids to another state to live w the abuser's brother (father had violent history). Court agreed and she lost them, and not long after they went from the uncle to abusive dad.
The abuser has been draining her dry now w litigation abuse, keeps filing contempt and trying to get more child support $ out of her even though she has next to nothing. She’s been working hard and trying her best to pay child support, despite her anguish at losing her children to the abuser and not even being able to speak with them.
Now the court is saying she’s in contempt bc payments were not made, and she had a hearing date which she was never notified about and that now they will issue a warrant for her arrest. WE ARE AFRAID SHE HAS BEEN JAILED NOW. This poor woman has been through so much horror and pain, and has zero contact w her kids, and is on the verge of homelessness (and may be in jail). I work with protectors in family court, and I personally know Joann, she’s a very gentle soul.
Might you please help you contribute anything you can on her behalf? This would be such a huge help. I’d love to find away to collect enough to pay her attny fees to renew contact w her kids, but at a bare minimum enough to not be jailed nor on the street because of the abuser and abusive courts.
