Hi everyone, my name is Aiysha. After living in the U.S. for 30 years, I recently moved back home to Jamaica to be closer to my grandmother. No she’s not ill, just 88 and living alone.
Unfortunately, things took a heartbreaking turn after Melissa. The little house I was to move into already needed repairs, and Melissa caused even more damage. The roof and parts of the flooring were hit badly.
The pressing issue is all of my belongings from the U.S. arrived in Jamaica on November 2nd and are scheduled to be delivered to that same home. I am currently paying for storage at the wharf daily (if you know Jamaican customs you’ll know that is terrifying) because my belongings can’t safely stay in my house with the open roof. Because of the damage, I returned to the states to work and acquire some funds to help.
I’m am now in Texas taking clients to earn money so I can continue the full restoration. But I need to get back to Jamaica as quickly as possible to fix my home and safely retrieve my shipment.
This move was a huge leap of faith. I truly believe God led me home. Even with the setbacks from the storm, I’m determined to rebuild and continue the journey I started.
Any amount you can give will go directly toward:
• Urgent roof and ceiling repairs
• Fixing damaged flooring
• Securing materials and paying for labor before my belongings arrive
Your kindness, generosity, and prayers mean more than words can say. Thank you for helping me through this storm
With gratitude and faith,
Aiysha
