Hi, my name is Jacob Gur. I'm a visually impaired international student at Concordia University, currently completing my third year. I hope to graduate in 2027.

In the past years, Concordia almost doubled the tuition fees, which makes it next to impossible for international students to survive. It mostly affected students from underprivileged backgrounds like myself, who saved for years to be able to afford the tuition fees.

I got a job at Concordia and would be able to afford to pay my coming months’ rent. Though I’d still have to limit myself in everything, including food, the main goal for me now is to stay housed, because if I lose the housing, I would also not be able to do well at my job and would lose that as well.

I have almost no friends and no family in Montreal. I also have no access to welfare. I am not eligible for receiving financial help from community organizations.
