I never expected to be writing this, but we need to leave Mexico urgently.

After moving into our rental, I became sick with tightness in my chest and brain fog. I later discovered visible black mold in the unit. Since staying here, I’ve been experiencing ongoing respiratory irritation and Sobo’s eyes got worse.

After documenting everything and trying to resolve the situation, I’ve made the decision to leave three weeks early for health reasons.

The landlord is returning my damage deposit, but is refusing to refund the remaining 3 weeks of rent.

Because this move is sudden, we now need to cover immediate relocation costs, including:

• A few nights in a hotel while we wait for our flight

• A last minute flight back to Canada

• In cabin pet travel fees

• Required rabies vaccination documentation and travel health certificate

• Transportation for vet visits and the airport

• Associated booking and processing fees

The total immediate relocation cost is $2,850 CAD.

The overall financial impact is higher, as this means finding a home in Vancouver, but I am only asking for support to help us get home safely and stabilize.

I hesitated to create another fundraiser because you’ve already supported us so generously in the past, and I never take that lightly.

Your previous support meant everything to us. This is simply an unexpected situation, and we’re doing our best to handle it responsibly to protect both mine and Sobo’s health.
