Hi, My name is Yonique Myrie. I grew up in the community of Petersfield in Westmoreland, Jamaica.
On October 28, 2025 Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a category 5 hurricane; the largest to make landfall on our records. Due to its trajectory, the Western end of our beautiful island has suffered catastrophic damages.
I am raisings funds to help with the emergency relief from Hurricane Melissa for my community of Petersfield, Westmoreland.
My family as well as the majority of community members suffered severe damage or total loss. Many members of the community were left homeless, without food, water or basic necessities.
The need for help is great. Much of the relief efforts so far have been focused on the parish of St. Elizabeth and the rebuilding the general infastructure such roads and restoring utilities.
Many people need immediate help to protect whatever is left of their houses and belongings. Many organization have pledged help or sent foods or supplies to Jamaica but many of these have yet to reach people because of blocked roads and bureaucratic red tape.
These funds will help to purchase :
- Supplies needed to cover or rebuild roofs ( Tarpaulins, hammers, nails, tie straps, saws: power and handsaws)
- Provide tents to community members
- Provide generators to set up charging station in the community
Here are other links to donate funds :
Your generous donations will be greatly appreciated in helping to rebuild the community.
Thanks in Advance
