My name is Susan and my daughter is Jamaican and we live in the states.This week hurricane Melissa came ashore in Jamaica near the town where Keena’s birthmother ,grandmother ,Aunt and cousin live leaving 90% of structures without roofs as it snapped power lines and toppled buildings with winds of 185 miles per hour .This was one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes to make landfall ever.Thank God Keena’s family is safe,but their small two room cinder block house is missing part of the roof and all its windows and the walls are falling apart from mud sand and sea water damage.They have no power and their waterlogged clothes and belongings are strewn around them.Keena’s cousin has lost all her clothes and school supplies.Its heartbreaking.Food and supplies are scarce as people are hungry and desperate.Emergency relief aid is hopefully coming for the thousands of people who need help,the need for support is urgent.
