Dear friends and supporters Worldwide
My name is Janice Robinson. I am raising funds for my family in Jamaica. Most of you are aware of the recent devastating consequences of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa to my dear Island and Homeland: Jamaica. I hail from Savannah La Mar, Westmoreland, only a mere 23 miles from Black River, Jamaica – the place where Melissa made landfall and the eye of the hurricane came onshore. Some of my family live just outside of Savannah La Mar in a small hamlet called Strathbogie District in the Parish of Westmoreland, where I was raised. Others family members are in and out of this region. As is common in Jamaica, family units live upon family plots of land. We have approximately 25 family members living together in roughly 11 adjacent small homes. My grandmother also has a church upon the property. The roofs on every structure were ripped off by the strength to the winds. Some of my family lost their entire homes – blown away who knows where? Many family members are living in shelters or in their cars. We are in crisis – desperately in need of funds to not only attempt to rebuild and replace items destroyed, but in the immediate future, to simply provide food and water for their daily basic needs. We are thankful for life. Some are injured, but all are alive. With God and the support of friends like you, we will recover. I plead and beg for your generosity and support. No donation is too small. In Jamaica, we have a Patois saying: “Every Mikkle Mek a Muckle”. This means that every little bit adds up to something. Please, I beg of you – donate and make a direct impact. I will be going home as soon as I am able. Donate to this Go-Fund Me page or to make a more direct impact, utilize Zelle and save administrative cost at my account: 1-216-553-8731. Be assured, all funds will go directly to the victims for daily needs and reconstruction costs. I love you all – God Bless – One Love! Sincerely, Janice Robinson.
