Urgent! Protect 78 trees in Fort Greene Park

Friends of Fort Greene Park urgently needs funds for a new lawsuit against New York City. 78 beautiful urban shade trees are still standing because since 2017 the community has supported two lawsuits and an appeal (all successful) opposing the Parks Department plan to raze the trees and replace them with a hardscape plaza.

We met our initial goal! Our attorney Mindy Zoghlin filed the brief Friday, September 29, in time to meet the deadline for the statute of limitations! Thanks to all of you who donated to this page, as well as those who sent checks, or gave via Venmo or Zelle.

However, we still need money to continue the suit. Mindy’s estimate from the beginning was that beyond the initial retainer the suit would cost another $20,000—$30,000. And we need operating funds to print flyers and new postcards, as well.
