URGENT: Prayers and Support Needed for Leila’s Recovery

On Monday, 11th November 2024, I received a heart-wrenching message from my dear friend:

“Please send prayers for Leila’s quick and easy recovery. She accidentally swallowed commercial oven cleaner. On the way to emergency in an ambulance.”

Leila, a vibrant and beautiful 10-year-old, was rushed to Coffs Harbour Hospital in an ambulance. Tragically, she stopped speaking during the journey and has not spoken since. She was placed in a semi-induced coma, and due to severe weather conditions, she had to wait until the following morning to be airlifted to the specialist paediatric burns unit in Newcastle for the critical care she desperately needed.

Leila is now in ICU, and while she is receiving the best possible care, her recovery will be slow and uncertain. Adding to the challenges, Leila has also contracted COVID-19 during her recovery, which has caused fevers over the past two nights, further complicating her fragile condition.

Her loving and devoted mum has been by her side every moment. A single parent, she was preparing to move with Leila to northern NSW for a fresh start, including a new job and school. Now, with Leila’s sudden hospitalization, she is unable to work and has no income to support them during this incredibly difficult time.

These two brave and beautiful souls desperately need our support. Every donation, no matter how small, will help cover living expenses, medical costs, and other essential needs while Leila fights to recover.
