URGENT PLEASE HELP SAVE LEO

Hello,

I am asking for help to cover the costs of surgery for our little puppy Leo. Leo is a wonderful little 6-month-old border collie puppy who has a spinal injury (Atlanto Axial Luxation) that is severely impacting his motor skills. If left untreated, it could kill him or paralyze him.

Leo is a very loving and sensitive little border collie. He was a healthy, happy and always playful little puppy until his devastating neck injury, which on top of being life-threatening is causing him constant pain. We are unsure what exactly happened to him; he certainly was not born this way.

We were initially told that it could have been meningitis or nerve damage, but Leo has not recovered as one would have expected. He has his good days and his bad days. On his bad days, Leo is almost completely unable to walk or move. Sometimes, he is unable to eat properly, play, run or even go to the washroom. Every time he loses his balance and falls over, Leo can exacerbate his injury. We have seen first hand how much this has impacted him.

The X-ray of Leo’s neck clearly shows signs of separation between the C1 and C2 bones in his spine. Unfortunately, this injury will not heal on its own, but instead requires surgery by a qualified neurosurgeon. The closest one to us is over two hours away in Montreal. We have taken him to every local vet we could, but none has been able to offer any treatment.

Leo is in desperate need for a very expensive surgery and and potential lengthy recovery. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the extensive costs that surgery would entail. I am asking for your help, even just sharing this go fund me, so Leo can have a fighting chance to living a normal life.

Below is our estimate of the costs:

Consultation Fees: $900 (3 consultations @ $300 ea)

M.R.I or CT: $3,000-$6,000

Surgery: $12,000

Recovery: $2,000
