Please help us get these two good boys out of the shelter and back into a loving home before it's too late!
Hercules and Zeuz' story is a heartbreaking one. Their owner fell terminally ill and -- with nowhere to turn -- had to surrender their sweet 2-year-old pups to the Lancaster Animal Care Center, a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles. Despite the fact that the shelter is a scary place for pups, this bonded pair of brothers has proven to be friendly, playful, and all-around great dogs! They are even "helper dogs" in the shelter's playgroups -- reliable and friendly dogs who help new and frightened pups come out of their shells to play. They clearly came from a loving home, which makes this situation all the more devastating.
Unfortunately, networkers haven't been able to find an adopter to or rescue to take them in yet. Because they're pit mixes and big boys (Hercules is 80lbs, and Zeuz is 87lbs), and because most local rescues are past capacity, the odds are stacked against them. Despite being volunteer favorites, these boys have now been deadlined and could be killed any day, simply to free up space. So we're trying to raise some money to attract a good rescue so they can cover the expenses of taking these boys in.
And you can watch a TikTok featuring them here.
If you'd like to reach out to the shelter directly to inquire about these babies, please call the Lancaster Animal Care Center at (six-six-one) nine-four-zero-four-one-nine-one. Their ID numbers are A5687806 (Hercules) and A5687803 (Zeuz).
Any bit helps -- and if donating money isn't possible, we appreciate you sharing Hercules and Zeuz' story. We're hoping to raise funds but also boost exposure in case the perfect adopter, foster, or rescue sees this. Thank you!
(Note: If an independent adopter steps forward or the dogs do not make it out in time, your donation will be returned.)
