Hi, I’m Karolina Guzman and this fundraiser is for my daughter Gabriella Flores. Although Gabby has health insurance, many dental procedures are not covered by insurance and or have a high co-pay. She will be having multiple procedures to address different dental and bone deformations through out her body. 

Gabriella was born a pretty healthy and happy child. There were some mile stones that were delayed or missed when she was little but dismissed by pediatricians because she functioned normally. Concerns began to grow as she never developed front teeth by the normal age of 7…she grew 1 front tooth at 9. At the age of 12 she still had only 1 front tooth. She was noted to have a gate when she walked and unable to fully extend her knees or stretch her legs, also her growth was stagnant.

Recently after having headaches, pain in legs and jaw she was seen by a few specialist. It has been tentatively determined that she has a rare genetic bone disorder (CCD, more test need to be done to determine), but bone deformity through out her body mainly knees and teeth have been noted. X-rays show multiple teeth and bone fragments impacted in her gums, preventing what they believe her second front tooth.

The oral surgery which will be an inpatient surgery is priority at this point. Bone fragments protruding from her gums leave her in pain, put her at risk for infection and continues to destroy her present functioning teeth. She is unable to eat most foods that she enjoys and relies on Tylenol daily for her pain. She urgently needs this surgery to help her function normally (eat), reduce her pain, prevent an infection and stop the damage to her other teeth.

As we see more specialists we will learn more. There are more issues and corrective surgeries she will need in the future, so what ever you can help with will go towards her urgent needs and future need.
