Urgent! - New World Primate Block Appeal!!!
From April 6, 2026, the government’s new primate licensing scheme will come into force. This means that any privately kept primates will require a license and must meet the new standards. This is a positive step forward, but it also means that the demand for dedicated rescue facilities is expected to grow exponentially.
To meet this challenge head-on and ensure we can continue our vital work, we urgently need your support to build a state-of-the-art rescue and rehabilitation facility for primates.
The RSPCA estimates that between 3,000 and 9,000 primates are currently kept as pets. If just 5% to 10% of these fail to meet the new conditions, 150 to 900 primates will require appropriate homes, like ours, to seek refuge.
Our Goal
We have set an ambitious target of raising £50,000 to cover the cost of constructing and outfitting the new facility. This includes funding for construction and operational setup, with the goal of creating capacity for up to 12 New World primates.
Why Your Support Matters!
1. Rescue More Primates: With expanded space and specialized areas for different species, we will be able to rescue and rehabilitate more primates in need of immediate care.
2. Provide Advanced Care: The new facility will include suitable environments, quarantine areas, and enrichment spaces to ensure the highest standards of welfare for each animal.
3. Create Educational Programs: Our new facility will also serve as a hub for educational outreach, helping to raise awareness about primate conservation and the critical importance of protecting these incredible species.
How You Can Help
Your generous donation will directly contribute to this urgent project. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a lasting difference in the lives of primates that rely on our care.
Together, we can provide a brighter future for primates that desperately need our help. The time to act is now, as the new legislation brings both challenges and opportunities to protect these animals.
We hope we can count on your support to ensure we are ready to meet the demand and continue our life-saving work.
