My name is Ahmed Abu Daia, a dentist whose journey took an unexpected turn. I graduated from Almansoura University, Egypt, in 2022 with dreams of opening my own clinic along with my brother in Gaza. Little did I know, life had a different plan.

In October 2023, after completing my internship in Gaza, my twin brother (also a dentist), our mother, and I eagerly returned to Egypt to get our graduation certificates. The excitement of embarking on our dental careers turned into a desperate search for any job to cover our expenses in Egypt. We find ourselves torn between the pursuit of dreams and the harsh reality of survival.

The rest of my family, however, is far more severe. My father and two beautiful sisters are trapped in Gaza, which is currently a war zone, facing misery, death and destruction.

As they were forced to flee our home in Gaza City, they sought refuge in Khan Younis and later Rafah when Israeli forces invaded. My 53-year-old father lost his livelihood when his women's clothes shop was destroyed. Our once warm home turned to rubble, leaving my family with no place to return and no means to sustain themselves.

Imagine two young girls, my sisters, queuing for water, searching for food in an area where prices have gone out of control. Picture them cooking on wood fires because cooking gas is a luxury. Farah, my 6-year-old sister, cries in fear, wondering if her dream of attending school will ever come true amidst the destruction.

Habiba, my 14-year-old sister, dreams of becoming a doctor. She was a top student in her 9th-grade class before the war disrupted her life. She deserves a chance to pursue her dreams like any child in this world.

The suffering and worry have pushed me to create this fundraiser, aiming to evacuate the rest of my family (My father and my two sisters) to Egypt to reunite and for a chance at a new beginning. The only feasible path out of Gaza is via Hala Travel company, where they grant permits for Palestinians in Gaza if paid.

The permits cost 5000$ for each person above 16, and $2,500 for those below. This is truly a very huge amount of money that my family cannot afford. I am reaching out for your help with the aim of raising $19,000 -> £15,000, broken down as follows:

Permits cost: $10,000 (for my father and two sisters)

Apartment rent for 6 months: $3,600

Basic life needs and expenses for the whole family for 6 months: $4,400
