Please read and help us for the sake of الله عزوجل.

My mother is 50 years old and she is sick mentally and physically, living in Montreal, Canada. A family member borrowed money from dangerous people who are part of the mafia and this family member tried to put this whole stress on my mom that led to her having a heart attack at the end of the month of Ramadan.

These dangerous people called the police on this family member, framing him, broke into our home without permission, blackmailed my mother, physically assaulted the family member, kept calling us at home, etc., all during Ramadan.

My mother helped this family member a lot, by borrowing money from her friends because the family member kept harassing her mentally to do so. The mafias constantly were asking for their money back, to the family member and us, at the point there was not enough food at home and we could not pay rent on time. They told our family member that if he doesn’t pay them, they will come and k/ll him. As women, we were not safe at home from anyone and anything. (I do not want to disclose more about the family member to not share that person’s sins). Till today we don’t know why that family member borrowed so much money or where did it even go. 

Today my mother left home with her 3 daughters, at the beginning of April 2025. She went shelters to shelters, and is still currently in one, her 4th shelter.

My mother’s friends are asking for their money back which is normal since it is their right and it almost has been a year since my mother borrowed from them. She had 40,000$ to pay but now الحمد لله there’s only 25,000$ left to pay (5k one person, 10k another one, etc). My mother cannot pay rent with this heavy burden on her shoulders. She doesn’t know when she will pass away which is another stress having all these loans to pay off.

She is using all her welfare to pay off her friends but it is still not enough.

I never wanted to work, but I tried since May to look for jobs, to at least pay off my mom’s loans but it is not easy to find jobs as a niqabi in the west. And my sisters are still studying full time. 

My mother always liked giving Zakat, Sadaqa to others in need but now الله المستعان, she is the one who is in need. She always tries her best to help others even in this current situation to please الله سبحانه وتعالى. She went through and still is going through a lot of trials and all I know is that she is indeed one of the most beloved servants of الله عزوجل.

She needs the help of her brothers and sisters in this Ummah. Please for the sake of الله عزوجل, help her. She doesn’t even have a home as you have one right now.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Allah helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. […]” 

[Sahih Muslim 2699]

Take this opportunity to receive good deeds because indeed there will be a time where no one will be found to be given zakat!

The Prophet ﷺ said : “The Last Hour will not come before wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, so much so that a man takes Zakat out of his property and cannot find anyone to accept it from him and till the land of Arabia reverts to meadows and rivers.”
