GOOD NEWS UPDATE: 2/3/2026

On the evening of Tuesday February 3rd, our neighbor returned home!! Thank you each and every one of you for supporting and advocating for their safety and return. While their return is a celebration indeed, we also understand that the risk has not yet vanished. -

On January 27, my neighbor was detained while attending a mandatory check-in for his asylum case. He did exactly what he was required to do. He followed the process. He showed up.

He was doing everything right.

I am sharing this on behalf of his family because it is not safe for their names or identifying details to be public right now. What I can say is this: he is a hardworking, kind, deeply loved partner. He contributes to his community and has built a life here carefully and with integrity.

He was not detained because of wrongdoing. He was detained while complying with the legal process.

If he is deported, his life will be in danger.

The initial goal of $3,000 was specifically to secure legal representation and complete the required paperwork needed to begin fighting his detention. Thanks to an outpouring of support, $2,000 of that amount has already been raised, and we are incredibly grateful. That funding helped open the door, but it only covers the first step. The legal process continues from here and requires ongoing work and additional resources.

At the same time with him detained and unable to work, the household is now facing immediate living expenses alongside increasing legal costs.

This family should not have to carry fear, isolation, and financial strain on their own while trying to keep someone they love safe.

We are asking for continued support as this process moves forward.

Any amount helps. Sharing this helps. Standing with this family helps.

This is about keeping someone safe.

This is about dignity and due process.
