URGENT NEED for Disabled Ukrainian Kids
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joseph "Skip" Davis and I'm raising money for severely disabled children unable to evacuate Ukraine. I am reaching out with an URGENT request for immediate financial support.
Until the first missile flew, my wife and I refused to believe that Russia would attack our wonderful Ukraine. Since I moved there 14 years ago, it was drilled into me how World War II affected the people of all the former Soviet countries. Their shared suffering and sacrifices bound them together and no Ukrainian or Russian wanted another war. Despite my repeated assurances to my friends, family, and colleagues back in the US that we would be fine, they pleaded with me non-stop to leave. I finally agreed to take my wife and kids to Istanbul for a week or so until things "cooled off” and I could be proven right that no war would come. That was February 23rd, 2022 at 5pm, less than 12 hours before a missile flew over our Odesa apartment.
We left Istanbul 10 days later and landed in Boston. Our friends and family and many strangers have helped us start to rebuild our lives. We are not raising any funds for ourselves. Instead, we are "paying it forward" and helping those we left behind. Through a series of events, we have "adopted" a group of 118 families from Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy with severely disabled children unable to evacuate Ukraine on their own. We are working with friends in Odesa whom we trust by sending them money via PayPal and then they acquire the food and critical medicine these families can no longer get because all government agencies have reallocated all funding to the army. Furthermore, aid from organizations like the Red Cross, simply cannot get to these remote people. We have a process in place now that can and is getting critical supplies to these families within 12-24 hours from the moment of donation.
So far we have raised $20,000 through local churches and friends. Every penny has gone to these families. We have fed and provided medication to 118 families and evacuated 8 children and their parents/siblings to Romania and then onto Germany for their safety and care. We have also given food packages to over 100 displaced families from Eastern Ukraine. The supplies have kept them from starvation and/or death for a month.
But the war continues, and we need more help. Our biggest challenge now is that two of the three roads/bridges into their town have been bombed by the Russian Army and we fear that once the third road is bombed, we will not be able to get them ANY aid. We have an urgent need for at least $10,000 to purchase food and medicine so they can last at least another month and the access to them might be restored. We must get them the aid QUICKLY. We have located the supplies and we have our brave friends ready to drive the van through the warzone. We just need your donation to fill the van.
We have recorded deliveries previously. Here is a link to one of the videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3TkFjvAdBI
We will record all future deliveries as well and share them here in updates.
If we raise more funds than planned, every dollar will go to future deliveries to these families, assuming the road stays open. If all roads stay closed, we will route the money to support other refugees.
Here is a full PDF presentation of the efforts we have done previously and includes letters of gratitude and photos of hope from the families and children we are helping. Presentation
Please consider making an immediate donation, no matter how small. $120 can feed one of these families for a month.
Thank you kindly for your consideration. Glory to Ukraine!
