Urgent Kidney Transplant Fundraiser for Ronald Cruz – Please Help Save His Life

Hello, my name is Terry Hale, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt appeal to help a very dear friend, Ronald (Ron) Cruz, a 49-year-old husband, father, and musician living in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Ron has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Failure (CKD), and without urgent dialysis and a life-saving kidney transplant, his future looks devastatingly uncertain.

Who Ron Is – A Beloved Husband, Father, and Friend

I first met Ron in 2022, along with his wife Kuk. Together, they perform as the “Duo Band,” bringing joy and music to holidaymakers across Koh Samui’s hotels. Over time, Ron and Kuk became more than entertainers — they became family friends we deeply cherish.

Ron and Kuk are raising two wonderful sons, ages 26 and 17. They are a close-knit family, full of love, resilience, and courage.

The Heartbreaking Medical Journey

In February 2024, tragedy struck. Ron suddenly lost vision in both eyes due to undiagnosed high blood pressure from long-term diabetes. Doctors were able to save some sight in his right eye, but he is permanently blind in the left.

During further tests, doctors discovered that his kidneys were failing. His kidney function (eGFR) has dropped to just 26%, a clear indicator of Stage 4 CKD. His creatinine levels are dangerously high at 4.26, confirming severe kidney failure.

Ron now suffers from:

✅ Severe edema (painful swelling from fluid buildup)

✅ Loss of mobility in his right leg and arm

✅ Constant fatigue and weakness

He is in serious, urgent need of dialysis and a kidney transplant.

The Financial Burden – Why We Need Your Help

Unlike some countries, Thailand does not have free healthcare, and Ron has no insurance. The cost of his treatment, including dialysis, surgery, and post-transplant care, is estimated at £50,000 (2 million THB) — far beyond what Ron and his family can afford.

In a powerful act of love, Ron’s eldest son has volunteered to donate one of his kidneys to save his father’s life. But without the funds to cover hospital costs, this life-saving transplant cannot happen.
