Damaris and her husband came to the U.S. from Guatemala to seek a better life, leaving behind two children they hoped to support. This January, they welcomed Xiomara into their family. In February, Damaris’ husband, Ivan, was arrested and deported while working to support the family in Georgia.

Damaris is struggling to support herself and Xiomara with Ivan’s help. After having Xiomara, she has been unable to find work that allows her the flexibility to care for her daughter, and the family is in desperate need of formula, diapers, and medical care, as neither Damaris nor Xiomara have had any check ups since the birth.

Damaris must now rely on this community to help care for Xioamara. Donations will cover three months of essential living expenses so Damaris can care for Xiomara, keep a stable home, and pursue steady employment.

Damaris y su esposo llegaron a los Estados Unidos desde Guatemala en busca de una vida mejor, dejando atrás a dos hijos a quienes esperaban poder mantener. Este mes de enero, dieron la bienvenida a su bebe Xiomara. En febrero, el esposo de Damaris, Iván, fue arrestado y deportado mientras trabajaba en Georgia para mantener a la familia.

Damaris se esfuerza por mantenerse a sí misma y a Xiomara sin la ayuda de Iván. Tras el nacimiento de Xiomara, no ha logrado encontrar un trabajo que le ofrezca la flexibilidad necesaria para cuidar de su hija; la familia necesita desesperadamente leche de fórmula, pañales y atención médica, ya que ni Damaris ni Xiomara han recibido ningún chequeo médico desde el parto.

Ahora, Damaris debe confiar en esta comunidad para recibir ayuda en el cuidado de Xiomara. Las donaciones cubrirán tres meses de gastos esenciales de subsistencia, permitiendo así que Damaris pueda cuidar de Xiomara, mantener un hogar estable y buscar un empleo fijo.
