Our beautiful boy Patch is only 3 years old. He has always been the most active, playful, loving cat — full of energy, always running around, always purring, always by our side. He has never shown any signs of illness. No warnings. No symptoms. Just our happy, healthy boy.
On Valentine’s Day, everything changed.
Patch suddenly began struggling to breathe. We rushed him to the emergency vets, terrified and not understanding how this could happen so quickly. He was admitted from Saturday night to Sunday night and placed on oxygen. We were told his lungs were filling with fluid due to sudden heart failure. Hearing those words about a 3-year-old cat felt impossible.
The vets had to drain fluid from his lungs to help him breathe. Seeing him in oxygen, fighting for every breath, was heartbreaking. One day he was playing like normal — the next, we were being told he had heart failure with no prior symptoms.
Patch is insured, but despite that, our emergency bill has already exceeded our insurance limit for the year. The oxygen care, hospitalization, procedures, and ongoing medication costs have quickly gone beyond what we’re covered for.
Patch now urgently needs:
• Lifelong heart medication
• Ongoing monitoring
• An echocardiogram with a veterinary cardiologist to understand the severity of his condition
Even through all of this, Patch is still Patch. He is still loving. Still purring. Still fighting. He is eating, resting, and looking at us with the same sweet eyes he always has. He doesn’t know he has a “horrible disease.” He just knows he wants to be home with his family.
We don’t know whether we have months or years left with him — but we want whatever time he has to be comfortable, safe, and happy. We want to give him every chance possible.
We are asking for help to cover:
• His heart medications
• Specialist cardiology testing
• Ongoing care to keep fluid off his lungs
Any contribution, no matter how small, means the world to us and to Patch. If you can’t donate, sharing his story would mean just as much.
He is only 3 years old. He deserves a chance to keep running, playing, and purring for as long as possible.
Thank you for helping us fight for our boy. ❤️
