UPDATE: We had Winnie stay over night at the ER to get a chance to get the CT scan and rhinoscopy the next day. If we didn't do this and tried to schedule one, we don't know how long it would have taken to get it done for her. They monitored her and gave her fluids since she's been dehydrated from coughing up/throwing up her water. The doctor called us and told us that after seeing Winnie they were going to prep her for the procedure. After the procedure the doctor called us and let us know that she found a mass in the back of her nose. That mass is what's bleeding and is what is making it hard for her to breathe. She took a tissue sample to see what it could be. We will find out hopefully by the beginning of next week. She doesn't think it's cancerous because she's so young and is hoping it's something benign like a polyp. We're praying and hoping it's benign. If it is, the next step would be surgery to completely remove it, but we won't know until next week. Winnie is back home with us now. I think having her under anesthesia for hours also greatly helped her since she's been so exhausted from lack of sleep. We're hoping for best case scenario news. We want to thank everyone who donated so far. We really do appreciate it. Hopefully we get some more support for the surgery she will most likely have to go through. Once we find out how much that will be we will update everyone. Thank you all again for all your help so far. Let's hope for the best for Winnie so she can go back to being her happy healthy self.
Hi everyone, this is Winnie's mom. Winnie Started off with what we thought to only be an upper respiratory infection on dec 9th. Ever since then things started going down hill. On week 2 she started having nose bleeds. She has been continuously bleeding from her nose for about 3 weeks now. We have done a lot of tests to try to figure out what going on with her. She came back positive for kennel cough, but doesn't have any of the usual symptoms. We have spoken to 3 doctors at this point in trying to figure out what's wrong. Her nose is constantly bleeding which makes in hard for her to breathe and in turn makes it hard for her to sleep. My poor baby is so exhausted, but can't rest because she keeps waking up from choking on the blood. Within the last week things kind of got worse. We took her to the emergency vet because she was bleeding so much that it was just dripping out of her non-stop. They put epinephrine in her nose to help slow down the bleeding. It helped a bit, but it hasn't stopped her from bleeding. She's getting weaker because it's hard for to swallow food. she just keeps gagging. Drinking water is also an issue for her now. A few days ago she threw up 6 times and it was all just so bloody. It was really scary and looked almost like a murder scene. We're basically at the vet everyday for her. We had to take her to the emergency vet last night (1/6/25) because she threw up several times and couldn't hold down her water. The next step right now is to do a CT scan and a rhinoscopy to help figure this out. Unfortunately it's very expensive to get that done. They gave us the estimate last night. The cost ranges between 10,722.60 - 11,122.60. That's not including other testing they may need to do with any findings and aftercare. We've spent about 2,700 on her so far with all the vet visits and testing that has been done. If we could get any help at all with her medical expenses it would be greatly appreciated. She's literally the sweetest angel and is so nice to everyone. She hates the vet and gets scared, but she is such a sweet good girl that she never gave any of the vets trouble for anything. We just want our baby to get better.
