I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help and support for my mother, Juliana, who recently suffered a severe head injury after falling down the stairs on the 22/12/2024. She has sustained a blood clot in her brain, and while she is receiving care at a public hospital in Brazil, her condition remains extremely serious.

As a result of the injury, my mother is experiencing severe dizziness and is unable to stand, walk, or leave her bed. Additionally, she is suffering from vision impairment, with bruising around her eyes (often referred to as "panda eyes"), making it difficult for her to see or navigate her surroundings, as well as a fracture to her temporal bone. The combination of these symptoms means she needs constant care and supervision, including assistance with basic personal needs.

Unfortunately, the public hospital she is in does not have the resources to provide the level of care she needs. In Brazil, public hospitals often lack the staffing and support required to assist patients with such severe conditions, and it has become clear that she urgently needs a caregiver by her side to monitor her and ensure her comfort and safety.

My mother's husband, who has been tirelessly by her side, is struggling to manage both the financial and emotional toll of this situation. They live far from the hospital, and he does not have a car, meaning he must spend a significant amount of money on daily travel to deliver clean clothing, necessities, and to be with her. They were already facing financial hardship before this tragic accident, and now the costs are becoming overwhelming.

In addition to the daily care and travel expenses, my mother also requires medications that are necessary for her recovery. These include pain management and treatments to address her brain injury, as well as any additional prescriptions for her long-term healing process. Unfortunately, these medications are costly and often not fully covered by the public healthcare system.

There is also a possibility that my mother may need surgery to address the blood clot or further complications from the injury. This potential procedure, if necessary, would bring additional medical costs that are difficult to manage without outside help.

We are raising funds to help cover three critical needs:

Travel and Daily Expenses: My mother's partner needs support to continue making daily trips to the hospital, bringing essential items and staying with her to provide emotional support. This is a heavy financial burden on top of their existing struggles.

Hiring a Caregiver: We urgently need to hire a caregiver to stay with my mother in the hospital. Given her inability to stand, leave her bed, or care for herself, and her limited vision, she requires someone with her at all times to ensure her safety, manage her basic needs, and provide comfort during this difficult recovery process.

Medications and Surgery Costs: My mother needs essential medications to manage pain, reduce the blood clot, and help her body heal. Additionally, if surgery becomes necessary, we will need funds to cover these potential costs. The financial burden of this injury is growing by the day.
