Urgent Medical Help for Hassan's Young Sons

We are raising money for my wonderful friend Hassan and his two youngest children, Yahya and Ahmed.

Ahmed has stenosis of the aortic isthmus. This is a heart valve defect which has left this sweet baby in critical condition, while many of his organs are failing. He struggles to breathe properly and cannot always play with the other children as he used to. Regardless, Ahmed is most times seen in bright spirits, smiling, and laughing with his dad. Ahmed loves the American flag, the color yellow, and more than anything, cars. This has fueled a dream for his whole family, to ride in a car one day. They speak of this dream very often. If Ahmed doesn’t receive the necessary treatment soon, he might never have the chance to fulfill this dream.

Ahmed's operation will consist of a 'resection with anastomosis'. This is a surgical procedure that involves removing the blocked/ narrowed part of the artery and then creating an artificial connection between the remaining structures. Yahya is about 15 months old. Yahya is believed to have rickets, though it hasn’t been formally diagnosed. This is a weakening of bones in children due to a lack of vitamin D in his diet. He also has intestinal inflammation, which causes his tummy to be upset quite often. He is a very silly baby who loves to snuggle and play with his dad. He is very smart, learning the alphabet in both English and Arabic. There is nothing that can’t be fixed with a snack or a sip of tea, for Yahya.

All donations will go directly towards Ahmed's $10,000 operation, $5,000 treatment for Yahya, and the remaining $5,000 for tent repairs, and overall care for Hassan and his family.

Hassan is an incredibly kind and loving father to his 7 children. He was displaced from Palestine to a refugee camp about 15 years ago. His history with war and displacement doesn’t start there though. Hassan's childhood consisted of displacement and immigration, because of wars and attacks on civilians. He has injuries as a result of constant fleeing, trying to keep his family safe. He is incredibly grateful for this effort to save his baby boy.
